Mindful Self-Compassion Introductory Session

  • Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC™) is an empirically-supported program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC™ teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. MSC‰™ involves balanced, mindful awareness, a sense of common humanity, and self-kindness.

Mindful Self-Compassion One-Day Session

  • Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC™) in the Workplace is a one-day workshop based on the work of Dr. Christopher Germer and Dr. Kristin Neff, exploring how people and businesses can truly thrive together by creating a culture of compassion within organizations. Through discussion, meditation, and experiential exercises, participants will gain simple tools for responding with compassion whenever faced with difficult emotions at work, learn to interact with oneself and others from a place of kindness rather than criticism, and develop practical skills in mindfulness and self-compassion to apply in the workplace. With a culture of compassion, employees are less stressed and more engaged, and are able to nurture their capacities to be kind, forgiving, and helpful, leading to a more productive and pleasant work environment.

Mindful Self-Compassion 8-Week Session

  • Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC™) is an empirically-supported, 8-week training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the ground-breaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC™ teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding.

The three key components of self-compassion are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness. Kindness opens our hearts to suffering, so we can give ourselves what we need. Common humanity opens us to our essential interrelatedness, so that we know we aren’t alone. Mindfulness opens us to the present moment, so we can accept our experience with greater ease. Together they comprise a state of warm-hearted, connected presence.

Self-compassion can be learned by anyone, even those who didn’t receive enough affection in childhood or who feel uncomfortable when they are good to themselves. It’s a courageous attitude that stands up to harm, including the harm that we unwittingly inflict on ourselves through self-criticism, self-isolation, or self-absorption.

Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when needed, relate wholeheartedly to others, and allows us to be more authentically ourselves.

Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing, less anxiety, depression and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships and it’s easier than you think.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Introductory Session

  • This introductory session provides a taste of the fundamentals of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), a program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center to bring the benefits of Eastern meditation practices in a trainable and measurable way to Western medicine. MBSR has been shown to reduce anxiety, depression, and pain, and to improve well-being. Through meditation and awareness exercises, we will explore this practical, time-proven approach to living fully in the present moment that has helped thousands of people achieve greater balance, vitality, and health.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction One-Day Session

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program of practical, scientifically-supported teachings to reduce stress, facilitate relaxation, and promote physical health and emotional well-being. Inspired by the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, this one-day session offers tools for engaging the demands of our lives, including illness, chronic pain, personal crisis, or the ongoing challenges of a “full catastrophe.” By relating directly with our bodies and emotions, we’ll discover the power of mindfulness to change our lives. Through sitting, walking, and body scan meditation practices, as well as mindful movement, we will return to our lives better equipped to manage stress. MBSR is recommended for stressed-out people from all walks of life.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction 8-Week Session

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight week program, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, that assists people who want to learn to use their own internal resources to respond more skillfully to stress, physiological and psychological conditions, and promote healthy living. MBSR has been highly researched since its onset in 1979, and research strongly supports its effectiveness in improving difficulties in multiple areas of health and wellness.

Aside from the common stressors of life (job, school, relationships, life transitions), other reasons people come to the group include medico-psychiatric conditions (hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, panic, anger management), to improve cognitive function (attention, memory), to enhance areas of wellness, self-care, and quality of life, and to develop or deepen a meditation practice.

Intentional, present-moment awareness, developed through mindfulness meditation practices, helps us experience whatever is happening in our life as it unfolds with curiosity, non-judging attention, and compassion for ourselves and others. Engaging with our life in this manner helps us to become more skillful and creative in our responses, while gaining insight into how to free ourselves from habitual patterns of reacting.
